Dirk Kerkhof Flight logs
Dirk Kerkhof was pilot with the Belgian Air Force from 1968 to 1993. He did his basic flight training on SV4b in Goetsenhoven with the 69A promotion, After this he went to the Advanced Flying Training School on Fouga Magister CM170 in Sint-Truiden. He finished his Flying training in Twenthe – Netherlands on T-33 And received his pilot wings in Goetsenhoven
After receiving his wings he was assigned to the Operational Conversion Unit on F84F in Florennes. After finishing the OCU on F84F he transferred to the 1th Sqd on F84F in Florennes until the 1th Sqd moved with the last F84F to Bierset. Dirk Kerkhof stayed at Florennes and made a conversion on Mirage V with the 8th Sqd. When the conversion was finished he was assigned to the newly formed 42 Sqd in Florennes on Mirage V BR.
In 1975, for language reasons, he had to choose to be transferred from Florennes - a monolingual French speaking base - . to either Kleine–Brogel or to Koksijde. He choose Koksijde and did a conversion on Sikorsky H34, he was on the 3th batch of pilots who got a conversion at RNAS Culdroese UK on the Sea King MK48. At the end of the Sea King conversion in Culdrose he was co pilot on RSO3 on the flight of the 5 Belgian Sea King helicopters to Koksijde on 8/11/1976. He became instructor on Sikorsky and Sea King
